GOG.com is a digital distribution platform – an online store with a curated selection of games, an optional gaming client giving you freedom of choice, and a vivid community of gamers. All of this born from a deeply rooted love for games, utmost care about customers, and a belief that you should own the things you buy.

Let's be blunt: Galaxy has neither been the mover or shaker it was supposed to be. So let's get rid of it. Save GOG's staff time and pain by planting their flag behind an open source project. Don't even have to lose out on the learned helplessness demographic nor the multiplayer component. But the latter could be replicated via open source APIs as well, so no big loss there.
+1!I have never used galaxy and never will... and please remove that junk from the offline installers too - we do not need bloated up installer files with galaxy libraries we willnever use!
End Galaxy and bring back GOG downloader!
Agreed 100%. Galaxy has been nothing but bad for DRM-free. Demolish it.
100% agreed or but the old launcher ! <3
Remove Galaxy and let us roll back games to previous versions without it.
I can see why it feels this way, but it serves a purpose for many games by giving you clean access to different install options, patches, and save game backups. These are really great features that I have come to appreciate. I have come to love Steam and GOG Galaxy for simplifying installing/launching games, and being able to move between machines without fussing around with copying saves.
Or put it behind a paywall. I think that would yield the same result, ultimately, as I have doubts that its proponents would want to pay to support it.The heart and soul of this DRM-free store is the offline installers, not the online client that in countless instances functions as the equivalent of DRM.
The forced use of Galaxy in single-player just ends up feeling like free advertising for Steam. Why would anyone want to buy a game on GOG where they are forced to use GOG Galaxy to play that game and access all of its single-player mode features when being forced to use Steam comes with many more games that will never be on GOG.GOG should cut its losses, end Galaxy, and stop playing this losing game. The resources wasted on this things are better put elsewhere.
