Just installed and it's alien to me. The installation directory for me for example on BG: The Original Saga is totally different from the windows version? Under: Folders>Home>GOG Games. Where's the override for example?.

Maybe I'm just missing it as it's all totally new. But I'm thinking of just reinstalling WIN10 and staying off the internet and using it as a dedicated gaming PC.

I only went to Linux because I was midway through a BG playthrough and for some reason the game just kept reverting to the desktop and crashing. Probably related to my moronic 'dedicated LG gaming monitor' that does that despite all settings when it doesn't detect screen activity like scrolling.

But yeah... Linux. 10 mins to install, and straight back to the 90s to learn a whole new system that may not even work with my favourite games. No GOG support that I can find on this.

It's enough to make you just quit games altogether. I've been on that path anyway.
I was just looking through the forums and found your post. I considered Linux recently due to fatigue with Windows, among other things, but chose not to make the switch. I'm using Windows 10 with most of the bloat and telemetry disabled and I'll be riding it out as long as I can. And if Windows 11 becomes inevitable years from now, I'll just go out of my way to debloat it as well. It's simply how things are, and for me the pros outweigh the cons. I empathize with your despair; at least you tried and now you know.

During installation, the path may be customized by the user (via text manipulation, or by 'browsing' the directory structure of /home/yourusername).

Post-installation, one may also choose to rename the game directory, or relocate it to another location within the home directory (also known as $HOME or simply: ~). However, one would also need to update the path to the executable (at the very least) within relevant shortcut files (assuming that your desktop environment makes use of these; my text-based menu system deliberately does not).

Said shortcut files should reside within $HOME/.local/share/applications -- with the following names:
gog_com-Baldurs_Gate_The_Original_Saga_1.desktop
gog_com-Baldurs_Gate_The_Original_Saga_2.desktop
gog_com-Baldurs_Gate_The_Original_Saga_3.desktop

With GemRB you can play BG1 or BG2 natively under Linux...
