A new breed of space game.

EVERSPACE, an intense roguelike space shooter is coming soon, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Everything in EVERSPACE is meant to be spectacular. It presents a vision of space a far cry from the desolate expanses we're so used to – instead, offering up beauty that's hard to match, tons of surprises, and easy-to-pick-up action gameplay worthy of the coolness we expect from space combat.

With feedback from 10,000 testers in the closed beta, the project has already seen it's share of improvements – including a significant content update for it's launch in development. Still, ROCKFISH Games already have a plan for new content (including new ships, layers, and fully voice-acted non-linear story) and updates all the way up until the release. For a closer look at the development process, check out the recently-gone-public Alpha and Beta forums on the developer's website.

Discover a procedurally generated, roguelike galaxy unlike any other in EVERSPACE, coming soon to GOG.com!

Emob78: Apparently Gog's releases are procedurally generated as well now.

*Has been generated to have a fishbowl instead of a head....*
Seen a video of this, looks interesting so I hope it'll be good and not regionally-priced. I could be tempted by this.

IronArcturus: I really don't understand the roguelike/random generation hate either. Procedural generation greatly increases a game's lifespan. As an example, I have recently found out about 'Oblige" for the original Doom/Doom 2. It basically creates gigantic, random .wad files and allows for practically infinite Doom gameplay! :P
It's not better, it's different. Procedurally generated or hand made content are two separate flow management and are used in different contexts.

Also, this game has nothing to do with No Man's Sky procedurally generated content.

EDIT: apparently the full price will be 39,99$/34,99€/29,99£, a bit steep but maybe it'll be worth it. Not gonna buy that preorder crap anyway.

I've been playing this for a while since buying in during the alpha. Buying direct did mean using steam but where possible I will buy direct as the money doesnt get split between storefront and devs quite so much. I'm also not so much of an antiDRM zealot that I'll boycott games for being on steam.

Hopefully a gogconnect option will come along for those who bought direct.

Going from everspace to NMS showed how basic and limiting the flight controls in NMS are, even in space where that irritating auto height thing doesn't play a role. While it may not be sim enough for some people it plays really well with a pad. Last time I tried on my vive there were no hud elements so keeping to flatscreen play for now but can see VR becoming the preferred option for playing.

The perks system takes from the die to progress mechanic of rogue legacy as you need to end a run to buy them BUT there's nothing in the game that comes across as a barrier that says ok you have to kill yourself now. A simple change that makes the game. Perks are also well named as perks being small increases to certain things like boost speed, energy levels etc meaning actual progress is down to the players ability to adpat to what they find weapon wise.

In short, this is shaping up nicely and worth following if you don't want to buy into the testing phase. Although buying into testing will be cheaper compared to release so "buy now play later" might be worth considering.
Just for info:

Procedural Generation doesn't necessarily mean random.

Ahh,you're daffy.

Starkrun: If Sinistar and Strikesuit Zero had a baby that was fused to Freespace with gamma radiation... this would be it....
If you want Sinistar in 3D with non-stop action and general awesomeness, you want the fantastic "Sinistar Unleashed".

(Hey GOG? Still not having Sinistar Unleashed here is beginning to look like an embarrassing oversight. Could somebody look into that?)
*yawn*...

Am I the only one who gets tired of seeing these games that just jump on the bandwagon of other, bigger titles?

Any games with the words "Roguelike!" "MMORPG-elements" or "Procedurally generated sandbox world" seems more at home with steam greenlight...

However, i do hope I am wrong, but I have been burned before...

Tbh this game looks like it was greenlit almost entirely based on No Man's Sky hype.

Ixamyakxim: Implication being permadeath is an option?

That should make a few people in this thread with reservations RE: roguelikes happy!
Yeah... confused. When I saw the "rougelike" in the OP I just GTFO since as of yet rougelike = newspeak for permadeath.

edit: I know that rougelike consists of several elements; permadeath was just always there. Along with no saves except on exiting.

Very visually appealing - but will wait for the full release and some reviews posted before committing.

You might want to watch videos of no mans sky and this before making statements like that.

Any hype that a game gains is purely down to the individual person hyping it up themselves based off information they have seen or heard. Takes very little effort to not get sucked into hype for the supposed huge GOTY titles like fallout 4 (was always going to be a reskinned skyrim) or the arena shooters like evolve, titanfall, battleborn, overwatch (curiously out of those the one that hasnt bombed yet is maybe the least innovative of the lot)

NMS is a great example of how hype was overblown by a lot of guesswork and as a result the more easily led were happy to jump on that particular bandwagon only to jump off later, probably in a fit of rage over how loose a term like multiplayer can be. Although NMS's version with naming stuff being the only real aspect did admittedly push things a wee bit too far.

Like myself I think a lot of folk bought into this game not because of NMS but because we enjoy space based games where flying about takes a primary role.
I didn't backed it on KS because it said "DRM-free on Steam".
I am glad it's coming here.
