I only have a couple of people on my GOG friends list, and they rarely ever actually play their GOG games (through Galaxy or otherwise). Recently, however, one of my GOG friends has been playing more GOG games through Galaxy. That's when I noticed, for the first time, the purple dot next to my username when I log in.
Curious, I clicked and noticed that there's an Activity Feed and that it had updates telling me the games my friend had played. Pretty cool! Poking around a bit more, I can "like" the feed items, see my own game play history, and even post messages to it a la Twitter. I'm normally not a fan of this sort of socialization, but for some reason, I did it on GOG. Perhaps that's because I like GOG so much and want to see it succeed, and I love seeing other people using Galaxy and playing GOG games.
I also noticed that if I click on a feed item of a friend playing a game, it shows me a comparison of my play time/achievements for that game vs my friends. Ok, that is *really* cool.
So, having discovered the Activity Feed and poked around it a bit, I've decided I like it! My only complaint, really, is that I don't have enough GOG-active friends to make it more useful. ;-) I'm tempted to open my profile to the public now, to generate more use out of my feed (read: let more people see and interact with me), but I'm not quite ready to that. I like the idea of the text posts, but for that, I use Player.me, and there's no cross-posting between the two (like there is between Player.me and Twitter). Then again, Player.me is more general, whereas I think I'd keep my GOG Activity Feed posts GOG-specific.
So that's my thoughts on the Activity Feed. What do y'all think? Do you use it? Do you like it? I'm curious, so let's discuss!
