The developers of Dwarf Fortress are upgrading Dwarf Fortress to a more visual and audible version. They are doing it to offset some medical expenses one of them is going through. ( I will not get to detailed in their story. You can read about that on their forums if you wish. I do not think that is my place.). I am posting this because the are selling their upgraded version on itch.io and Steam. Link below/

I would really like to see this here on GOG too. If that is possible Dwarf Fortress is probably my all time favorite game. and GOG is my all time favorite game store.
Have you added your wish to the wishlist?
I suspect more games of this ilk will do the same as we move forward. Games like Cataclysm Dark Days ahead and Dungeon Crawl Soup etc. I maybe wrong, but who would have thought Dwarf Fortress would have done this? Maybe those other game devs will get in on the pie too once they see how awesome DF does monetary wise, which it will.
I did recently ask for it in a gentle thread.
Always wanted to try this one but put me in the category of (shallow) people that never could get past this ---> @@@#@@ being a bed or some such ;)

I'd love to give it a go if it showed up here with some visuals. Hopefully not too garbage either - I think even if they went "low key" something like the early 00s Tactics DS games might do.
id certainly buy it if it came here.
It's one of those games I know I'd never play for more than a few hours, but I'd really like to try out of curiosity, especially with all the upgrades offered with the new version. I'd definitely pick it up if it ever made its way here.
I'd be willing to buy it definitely, but I don't care much about better graphics. All I want is some optimization! Game slows to a crawl when I reach 100+ dwarves. And in adventure mode frames per second turned into seconds per frame once I try to explore a town :P
Not that I had a terribly powerful system at the time, but still.

I believe you underestimate how niche this game is... sure, many people have heard of it, but I think few have actually played it, I mean REALLY played it, and probably even fewer will be willing to pay for it. Not that that means it would not be a worthy addition to gog, but I don't believe it will be a huge financial success at any rate.

Me too
I have looked at Dwarf Fortress, but found it too daunting to get into. Looking at the screenshots with the graphics makes it look less daunting. I would definitely buy it if it came here. But if it doesn't, at least it's coming out on itch.io.
I would instabuy

Rimworld got its inspiration from DF and Rimworld sold extremely well on Steam. DF is the grandaddy of these types of games and it'll do well too.
Consider being politely vocal in this Steam thread too:
