I recently purchased Deus Ex Mankind Divided, however when I hit play the icon goes grey for a second and then goes back to purple with no error message.

I have tried verify the game files and it seems to download everything it needs.

When trying to run the game from the EXE. in the games directory I'm getting an error that reads:

C:\Windows\system32\d3dx11_43.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media of contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

I was having the same issue with games on Steam, when hitting play it would start to launch then nothing would happen and wouldn't show an error message.

Does anyone have any recommendations / solutions?

Thank you.

Yawn, this question gets asked and answered around 30 times a week, and still GOG do not want to fix it. Apparently when using galaxy to download and install a game, it is not installing the visual cpp extensions or directs the game needs. In this instance, it looks like you are missing directx. You can get this directly from Microsoft site:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
Do NOT just download dlls from random sites, use the official M$ installer.
Also, you can get this answer by simply searching for it, there are thousands of google results for it.

Thanks for getting back to me,

I appreciate the feedback, however I have tried googling the issue quite a few times over the past few weeks.

On installing directx it says there is a newer or equivalent version of directx already installed.

Any further thoughts?

Probably got a messed up install of directx or missing the specific one needed. Try this one:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109

Download it, install it. Should work then. Sometimes these things need specific versions.

Again nothing once it has installed, the "play" button still just turns grey for a second before returning to purple.

Did you install your games with Offline/Backup installers? I had the same problem: Installed my games with a backup installer and couldn't start them with Galaxy. I could solve the problem with the repair function of the client.

Are you sure?

When you download and run the directx_Jun2010_redist.exe -file you're asked first to unpack it to a folder of your choice (I always choose c:\dx). Then you need to go in to that folder, and run DXSETUP.exe to really install it.

Just 2 weeks ago I had serious trouble with running Satisfactory, but other games (including Fallout 3 and Witcher 3) ran just fine. Even though I had installed directx when I formatted 3 months ago, reinstalling directx (again) helped.

But that's Windows in a nutshell...

EDIT: Corruption or errors happens all the time, so you can try to delete the file C:\Windows\system32\d3dx11_43.dll and then re-install directx.

So deleting the d3dx11_43.dll file and reinstalling direct x got me one step closer. The splash screen for the game now pops up but when hitting "play Deus Ex" it disappears and the play button in GOG goes back to purple.
Have you tried updating / reinstalling your graphic card drivers?

I've just given this a go, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but no luck unfortunately.

Try without galaxy. Kill galaxy, then go into the game install directory and run the game from the exe.

So this gets me to the desktop splash screen but when hitting play it gives me the same error message I originally posted about

If you have a “play” button, then you are still running it through galaxy. Exit and close galaxy, and run the game exe (you might need to change the run parameters if it’s loading galaxy).
Your video card have support for Directx11?

Sorry I should have been more precise. I closed Galaxy and then tried to run the game through the installation folder. When doing this it gives me the splash screen, but when hitting play it gives me the error message
