As i always loved the stretched to widescreen appearance from XP now i cant play the DosBox version in original
dimensions and with black borders anymore at all and so my Heroes Of Might And Magic 2 for me got worthless!
Ive tried many things in the DosBox config and nothing seems to actually work.
Who had the same problem and how to possibly solve it?

Ew. Why? Distorted images are fugly.
Maybe - but as far as im remembering
the HOMM2 looked very good in widescreen .. .
If you *really* want to do this, then try messing with your graphics card's panel fit options (how to do so depends on whether you're running nVidia, ATI or Intel). Should be an option to fit to panel rather than maintain aspect ratio.
My Nvidia settings only allow per program 3d settings like
anti aliasing on or off only nothing about the panel fit or this like.

Tell us a bit about your system. Is it a laptop? Win10? Optimus? Which Nvidia driver version? Etc...
yea, your probably missing something, nvidia's control centers almost all ship out the same way. Take a good look at the picture provided by Teceem
My system is a laptop Alienware M15x and im running with Windows 7
and i use the Nvidia driver from their site which should work best actually ... .

can't you show a screenshot from your control center with the 3d options openend?

if your not sure how just press print screen

paste that image into paint

cut the window out of the full screen unless of course you openend the center full screen

save the image as a gif or maybe jpeg

and attach the screenshot in this post

if you would be so kind

Try installing the driver from Nvidia directly.
Suddenly ive found the desktop size and position tab which allowes
multiple scaling settings and it now works - thank you so much ... .

P.S.: I must apologize but my nvidi settings are obviously crazy since
the said tab after restarting the nvidia setting now again misses but it
appeared when i had the settings tab open for over an hour ... .

Not always though, I had (have?) at least two systems (notebook included) where this option was not available, like it was not even there. I think it's partially due to specific monitor and out of date video adapter, in some cases the odd hybrid between intel and nvidia cards. Here look at my Nvidia Settings from my old GeForce 740M notebook and see for yourself.

A friend of mine have proper nvidia card and an old 4:3 CRT monitor he also does not have that option.
