Freddy Pharkas plays through DosBox on GOG, and since I'd like subtitles with the audio, I decided to load it through ScummVM.

I configured the launch executable in the game's folder to load the game through ScummVM (skipping the GUI and going straight to the game).

Everything works fine except the Galaxy button; that one still loads DosBox.

What am I missing? Which file is Galaxy accessing to load the game? How do I change it?

I'm going through all this trouble just so Galaxy can log my time on the game, but I'm not married to that idea.

First exit Galaxy. Look in the game files, using Oblivion as an example, you should see something like "goggame-1458058109.info". Open this file in notepad (a code editor would be better though, such as VS Code), and you should make a backup first just in case.

You should see something like this:

{
"category": "launcher",
"isPrimary": true,
"languages": [
"*"
],
"name": "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion",
"path": "OblivionLauncher.exe",
"type": "FileTask"
},

The "path" part is what you need to modify, you need to point it to the new exe. Be sure to modify the right one though, as other stuff is also placed here like tools that show up under MORE -> Other. So the one that is directed to the games exe or launcher should be the right one. Save and start Galaxy.

Worked like a charm. Thank you very much!

Your welcome. Just be aware that if the game updates or if you have to verify / repair the game you will likely need to make this change again.

Yeah, I already unchecked that option before doing any changes.

For others bumping into this thread, that option in Galaxy is found by clicking on More (next to the Play button), then Settings, then uncheck Automatically update to newest version. You can also disable this for all games in the Galaxy Settings.
