I recently bought Warcraft 2, a game claimed to be ''perfectly optimized'' for modern operating systems. And yet the game just does not work and crashes upon start up. I tried to post a negative review of this product, but when I click to save my 1-star review, it just won't post. However, changing to a 5-star review that simply says ''Great!'' is immediately posted and I can no longer edit this review. Now, I know there was NOTHING wrong or abrasive with my review, but I will post it bellow so you can tell for yourself whether or not this is just too inappropriate for people to see:

''Game just won't launch regardless of what settings I change. I really shouldn't have to go through hours of work to find a fix to make this game playable on my particular OS - I thought that was GOG's job but apparently not. It's a shame since I really wanted to replay one of my favourite games from my childhood but just like most things promoted by Blizzard, this is just a scam. ''

I stand by my statement that I shouldn't have to do anything besides installing and then pressing 'Play' in order to play a game that I have paid for. If it works for other people, great. I wish it worked for me, but it doesn't, and thus the store page and promotions of this product are patently false. And I would demand a refund, but the refund form is legitimately one of the hardest things to find on this website. Apparently you have to ticket support for it? Why can't I just have access to the refund form like I have on Steam? Why am I not allowed to criticize you, GOG? Knowing what GOG is now like, I'm certain this thread will be wordlessly deleted as well, even though I really don't think it violates any form of guidelines. I could have chosen much harsher language to better represent the nature of my dissatisfaction. I believe my criticism is valid and silencing it would be pathetic.

tinyE: what is your OS?
Windows 7 64x, but I will say as I said in my ticket to support that I am not at all interested in fixing the game. That is GOG's job, not mine. I only want my money back.
Well I screenshotted your thread so if it gets nuked, maybe I can post it on reddit or whatever.

Thankfully though GOG isn't too overzealous as far as censorship on the forums goes. In fact we're mostly left alone, which I really enjoy. No doubt it won't go on like this forever though.

Yes but the TOS says they will try to fix the game first THEN offer the refund. It behooves you as the customer to read that before purchase.

When you make the buy you are agreeing to that TOS. You can't turn around and say, "Well that doesn't count because I didn't read it"

That's like telling a cop he can't give you a ticket because you didn't read the 'No Parking' sign.

If there is a filter preventing the post, I'd hazard a guess that it's 'scam' that's the offending word. Try posting a negative review that doesn't accuse the site of criminal activity and see if that goes through.

My heart goes out to you, but this is your fault.
I agree, it is my fault to get involved with an entity this blatantly anti-consumerist in their practices. At no point however have I claimed to be above the TOS, unless there is some part of the TOS that states you aren't allowed to criticize the way their system functions. I don't see what is unreasonable about my request to bypass the 'trying to fix things' stage and going right to the refund.
''We always aim to provide our users with working games, so first we'll try to get your purchase working on your system. If we can't get it working, we'll get you your money back. No worries. :)''

Well I am not willing to work with them - because I don't think I should have to work at all to make a product I have PAID for to be functional when it is promoted as being fully functional.
I had a feeling that wasn't going to go over too well. XD

Good point. If I was allowed to edit my review, which I appear to not able to, I would gladly try.

So aside from those two games, what are the other 13 you own on here? I assume you have previously had no issues with your games?

Besides one game, the other games in my library are free games that I have either gotten through a promotion(Torchlight) or were just put there. That one other game I purchased functions fine.

Edit: I have never played any of these free games put there by GOG.

Nothing in life is 100% guaranteed, especially PC games. Take it up with Support. Reviews should be about the game itself, not about your personal technical issues.
If you were to provide details in your review on why the game doesn't work for you then it would be useful information for others. The keyword is "others"! The review system is a communication system, not a personal blog to air your grievances.

GOG does their best to make games work for everybody and they do a good job at it. Their guarantee needs to be interpreted in a realistic context. But you're just expecting magic - why do you think technical support exists? Do wizzards need a technical support department?

Wait - what? Are you telling me that every single piece of software you have ever purchased was worked 100% perfectly with zero effort on your part until now? If this is the case, you've been extremely lucky.

Nice use of hyperbole to discredit my stance. But yes, most games I have purchased on other platforms have actually worked without me needing to go into individual folders to manipulate files, attempt repeated re-installs, external software or changes to the functionality of my OS.
I had hyperbole once.

Got a shot of penicillin, cleared it tight up.
