Decent game but not for everyone
I've heard Starbound called a Terraria clone a lot of times, but from my playtime on the game (I have 400+ hours logged on the Steam version) I can say it's not really trying to be Terraria, it focuses a lot more on the adventure aspect than the sandbox aspect whereas Terraria it's the other way around, here the focus is more on the story.
On that note of course, let's just get this out of the way; the story is pretty boring, basically have a series of fetch quests preceded by a scavenger hunt for clues pertaining to the race of which the relic you're currently hunting belongs. I wish they would have gone the extra mile and made the story different for each race but it seems that unfortunately there was not much effort put into that area of the game.
Starbound overall is a sort of "you like it or you don't" kind of game, me personally though I enjoy the gameplay a lot.
