Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Complete Edition

Not needed coat of paint with issues

I grabbed the game to check it out myself and see if it's really as bad as people say. Based on what I've played so far, the performance feels pretty similar to Total War: Pharaoh overall. The campaign map is super bright and colorful, which looks a bit off, but it runs smooth without any hiccups. When it comes to battles, I notice the FPS dips a bit more noticeably—dropping to around 50, which is about what happens when I zoom in during Pharaoh battles. The battle I was in had pretty dark lighting, and I'm not sure if it's the time of day, weather, lighting effects, or just a graphics glitch. Either way, it didn't look great. The AA seems totally broken or something because the game looks rough unless you turn on DLSS AA. I didn't really notice the unit flag color-changing issue with the Shimazu that everyone's talking about. Yeah, I know they messed up some unit art, but the ones I've seen look fine to me. Doesn't seem like it's every single unit that got the short end of the stick. The drag formation feature seems broken on my end—I can't get one unit to line up with another unit for the life of me. The game isn't worth the $40 or even 30, maybe 20 price tag, but it could definitely be patched up. I'm seriously torn between refunding it or holding onto it to see if the devs actually fix things. I'm giving it 2 and half stars because it playable, even while being buggy which they can fix but will it happen. One more thing the game is only 53GB not over 70GB.

The Sinking City 2

This is not sinking city 1

This is a Resident Evil 2 remake clone, all the way down to capturing essence of the in-game map reminiscent of Resident Evil 2 Remake. The game is no longer open world, which may disappoint fans of the original title. However, despite being a copy of a more successful game, it is quite enjoyable. It is surprisingly more optimized than the first games remaster, which was my primary concern, fearing it would perform poorly like Silent Hill 2 Remake. The positives: - The atmosphere is reminiscent of the original game. - Controls are fluid and comparable to those in Resident Evil 2 Remake. - Well-optimized performance. - Certain enemies possess weak points, allowing for quicker eliminations and conserving ammunition. The negatives: - No option to dodge enemies, when it preferable to flee rather than engage in combat. -Could of expanded on the original formula of the first game instead going full survival horror The aspects that evoke mixed feelings: - Zombies? - Not an open-world experience. - Despite the impressive atmosphere, it feels somewhat repetitive, as it closely resembles Resident Evil 2 in gameplay. Based on my two hours of gameplay, I would rate it 4 stars. Because I'm sucker for horror survivor games.

SHOGUN: Total War™ - Collection

Been a while since I really played STW

The last time I tried playing this game was with a DRM version from another storefront, and it didn't work for me. But I finally got to play the GOG version after its release. So far, my experience has been quite good. The game started immediately without any issues. I was able to select my widescreen resolution without it crashing. I didn't encounter a formation bug. It worked fine for me without the mouse behaving erratically, and I'm running Windows 11. I tried a couple of historical battles and the campaign with no problems. It also ran quite smoothly during battles. Honestly, I love the old-school Total War graphics. I'm giving the game 5 stars, not only because it's on GOG, but also because it's a great game. Edit: I had time to test the game again on my gaming desktop, this time with the same OS but different Hardware. No formation bug and no bug where you cannot control the units for me.

Cold Fear

Good survival horror game

While Cold Fear has been looked at as RE4 clone, it was surprisingly released only a couple of months after. Sure, it's not the same quality as RE4, but it was still a good game and had some cool features like moving and shooting before RE4. Too bad it didn't do well enough for a second game. This review is more of a comparison to the retail/Steam version, which I own as well. From the start of booting up the GOG version, I noticed some things were different from the other versions. The game automatically recognizes my Xbox One Bluetooth wireless controller. Was already supporting my widescreen resolution. The Shadow issue has been fixed now. In-game videos seem to be all widescreen now. The GOG version looked a little better. One maybe negative thing I did notice. Maybe I'm just crazy, but it looks like the start menu screen is slower for the GOG version. Also, performance was the same for me on all versions. For me, this is a good update done by GOG and the best version to play right now.

Resident Evil 3

Turned a bad version good.

After finally getting the chance to play the GOG version, I found it better than expected based on my experience. It booted up just fine on my modern laptop with no hiccups in performance after hours of playing. I changed the video settings to display a higher resolution but didn't see any texture issues. Maybe I'm missing something. My generic Xbox One controller connected to it right away with no issues. The only small issue I noticed, which isn't really bad, is the PS1 wobbly character face texture. This is 25-year-old game, so I don't see why you would care much about the graphics. That's just my opinion. The GOG version is still great if you just want to boot the game up and play. This comes from someone who beat the sourcenext version with the rebirth mod applied. I really hope this opens up the window for more Resident Evil games on GOG. Giving this version 4 out 5. Not perfect but pretty good.

Resident Evil 2

Better than I expected.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the release of RE2 on GOG. It makes the SOURCENEXT port obsolete for me, and now I have an out-of-the-box version to play anytime. Thank you, GOG and Capcom
