It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Huh. Didn't know that page was still operational. Neat. Much better. :)
I didn't want to open a new topic so i took advantage of some recurrency posts.

Dear gog, the last changes of the front page look it awful, a lot of white space wasted, the deal of the day with only one offer and wishlisted games shows a lot of white space and ad images looks big and not in their place.
Please, i hope that for the upcoming summer sale you prepare a special front page and change the current one, imo. Thanks.

Due to your "necro" (I don't mind it - it's true: they changed a lot, and not all for the better), I checked the front page more closely, and noticed this category (attachment) for the first time.

XD

At least someone at GOG HQ has humour...

Hmm... If so then I don't get it.
I had to look up the name. Some social-media celebrity who also works for Amazon Prime Video ("content strategist")?

⌄ Thanks!

It's from the Fallout TV series.
When Lucy McLean has a talk with the overseer of vault #4, he calls her "Goosey" McLean.

Edit: and "Goosey McLean's favourites" are all the Fallout games...

So they're so strapped for reputation that they can't even actual celebrities such as Clint Basinger or Kris Asick? They had to settle for fictional characters?

Goosey MacLean is a real person. Do the Google search yourself.
Lucy MacLean is -- as I have just learned -- a fictional character from the Fallout TV show.

edit: fixed, it's "MacLean" in both cases

They changed the front (main) page a couple times recently, and it is better than it was in my opinion, especially as my PC and browser act like there is less bloat now.

One recent change though, that I don't really like, and not to the front page, is the success after purchasing page.

With my latest purchases, a day or so ago, GOG have added an extra promotional download button for Galaxy, along with a duplicate go to library button.

It's no big deal, except I find it annoying, especially because of my stance on Galaxy encouraging folk to not back up their games, so not really doing the DRM-Free thing as they should, which GOG is supposed to be about.

I'll cope with it, but wish they would spend their effort on things we really need, not that sort of nonsense.

I'm not seeing anything on the search inquiry that gives corrlation or causation to your suggestion. Dr. Wikipedia seems to suggest as such as well.

Breja: It's all such an ugly, cluttered mess I pretty much never scroll down that page any more, so I honestly have no idea if any of this is new.

While the older site is cool, it really feels old and not clean.
But the catalog I think is probably better for searching for certain games.
Does anyone actually know what exactly is going on with the front page? Currently I have it loaded on both Firefox and Chrome and it looks differently. On firefox I see the latest newish design with huge icons that is just terrible on desktop. Bestsellers/ New releases tabs are so big I have to scroll a few times to see all the game on the lists. It feels like made for mobiles. On Chrome though I get the old version with the normal looking smaller icons and everything looks just fine. So I wonder is there any way so switch between the two designs, are they testing (still) something or is it just broken on firefox?

Without providing (a) screenshot(s), how is anybody here supposed to know, how the front page looks on your end, respectively, if that's in any way different from what they see on their end?

Example:
For me, the "Bestsellers/New Releases" are "one screen's height plus three rows", if I align the sections' titles narrowly under the top of my screen (see attachment "bestsellers_new releases" - I set a demarcation line, where my screen ends at the bottom).
That's not even one entire mouse wheel scroll.

Have a look at my second attached screenshot ("storefront").
There you see what the entire front page looks for me (I'm using Edge, but I can confirm, that it looks the same on Brave).

Now - does that look, like it looks for you (at least on one of your browsers)?
Or does it look completely different (regardless of the browser you use)?

Yeah my bad - I should've provide screenshots for clarity. Firefox looks very much like yours - everything takes so much more space. On Chrome eveything is way more compact - I can see more without the need to scroll up or down

You can't possibly call the clusterfuck that is the current GoG homepage clean! The old GoG page is the one that doesn't look like a complete mess.

Deleting the cookies and re-trying will yield in one version of the website regardless of the browser. Welcome to GOG.com | best PC games DRM-free one is a total shitshow while the GOG.com is your regular mess.

Honestly GOG should just go back to the basics and use Blast from the past as a default website apart from major sales. The one from before 10th anniversary wasn't bad either.

The frontpage variant is decided by a specific cookie named "front_ab" with values "old/new".
