Hell is Us is a 3rd-person action-adventure game – and it's now available on GOG!

This game combines intense melee combat with the thrill of exploration. Explore a semi-open world to find answers to your questions and face mysterious creatures all along your journey. As well as the civil war dividing the country, the region is suffering from a mysterious calamity, which has given rise to supernatural creatures that no modern weapon can defeat.

Now on GOG!
Glad this released here, I guess. I won't be buying it again, but I'm glad it's here. Devs/pubs really need to let people know if they plan to release on GOG instead of "We haven't ruled it out" Or just release it day 1 so there's no confusion.

The problem is often that they simply do not know, so it depends on when you bought it elsewhere. Keep in mind that the game was released a little over a year ago now, and at that time they probably did not have any clear plans to release it on GOG as well. The "not ruled it out" statement means just that - they just had not made a decision about whether to release it on GOG or not at that point.

And keep in mind that it is very hard to make predictions, especially about the future.

Edit: And on topic, Hell Is Us is one of the most under-rated games of 2025. Also, it is not really a souls-like, no matter what the tags says. It is an action-adventure game, and do not really have any of the souls qualities, apart from having a cryptic narrative based on exploration and no handholding, so no maps or waypoints to follow.

I am not a fan of shadow drops either. If I had to guess, I'd say publishers view early GOG announcements as "piracy adverts": No need to buy our game, you be able to pirate it.

Of course Steam games get cracked and repacked day one anyway, but when have publisher fears ever been logical?

That being said, Nacon generally does publish on GOG, except for their licensed games, like WRC, so I would not rish to buy their games elsewhere.

tfishell: Newsletter discount code is for 75% off instead of 70%.
I, once again, realized this afterwards ;-)

All the best!

They might not have released here if the game had sold more on Steam. Back in Oct. 2025, I sent an email to the devs, and they responded, "At the moment, there are no plans to bring Hell is Us to GOG, but it could eventually change."

+1 to what amok said.

I know not everyone can wait or is willing to, which is understandable, but the more people who hold out for GOG releases, the greater the chance the game will show up (primarily non-AAA though).

Hell is Us is one of two left fields from 25 that clicked with me in ways i would have never expected.

Actually those two, Hell is Us and Clair Obscur, are largely responsible for me being able to make peace with the obscene ammount of money i spent on a gaming PC in early 2025. Crimson Desert also played an important role but i was in the know about what to expect fromt hat one, and my god, did it deliver in buckets.

Hell is US is not a perfect game but it gets a whole lot right, it immediately went to my "games i'll never forget" roster.

I did two back to back playthroughs elsewhere but the douple dip on gog is a no brainer - done! - and also the perfect excuse to check out the content forom the recent update.

You're killing it, gog :)

If GOG wants my money, they'll convince devs and publishers to announce or release their games here day 1. That's a failing of GOG, since the dev/pub already got money from me. They need to make it enticing to release here, or at least let people know that a game will release here.

There's little incentive to release here at all (unless maybe you're a small dev or publisher), much less day-1, and I don't think there's much else GOG can realistically do to change that (unless maybe if you consider axing Galaxy an option) - most people just want the convenience of Steam. Also I think devs want everyone to buy day-1 on Steam so the game rises up the Steam bestselling chart and gets even more eyes on it, and people might be less likely to pirate zipped up Steam files. And probably some devs want to avoid GOG if a game is successful enough on Steam alone.

But I doubt either of our minds will change, so I doubt it's worth arguing over. You do you.

Or you could, you know, wait a bit instead of impulse buying on steam, iirc this game had multiple API beeps going a few months back, so there was solid reason to assume it was coming

Like tfishell said, GOG is in no position to demand or convince the devs to do that, we can only make assumptions based on the devs/publisher history

There's not really anything to argue over. GOG will continue to miss out until the cease to exist, and that's a shame. Like I said, if GOG wants my money, they need to find a way to get it. My days of double dipping to support a platform that's not interested in their own survival are in the past.In the end it's the same difference, we're not arguing about it, We agree. There is little GOG can do, but they sahould at least reach out to devs to lock them down. I bought this game over a month after release when the dev told me they had no plans to release here. Well, here we are. GOG lost out on the sales, not the dev/pub.

I waited a bit. The dev told me they had no plans to release here. Based on the publisher's history and the developer's response to my inquiry, there was little reason to assume it would end up here, MANY of the games just don't.I'm a little bitter, but I got mine, as they say. Dev/Pub got theirs. GOG lost out.

paladin181: I waited a bit.
"A bit" by GOG's time frame means around a year, when the average game is fully patched, has received the major updates etc and therefore it's easy to maintain on multiple platforms

But really, Hell is Us was really sus from the start, this catch is from november 2024:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_that_are_unofficially_confirmed_for_release_on_gog_in_the_future_part_3/post1597

So if anyone f up here is the dev for pretending it was not coming and then lying to you

Back several years ago this was true now it is common to take 5 years or more for games to be fulled patched and updated
