Lust Theory Season One (GOG)

This was one the games in last years NSFW anti censorship giveaway pack. I'm slowly working my way through them. This one is my favorite from that pack so far. It's basically Groundhog Day done as a NSFW VN. It has its funny moments, especially the hidden "Zero Fucks Given" that you can unlock..basically days where you get up and just decide to be a total dick to everyone, knowing there won't be any consequences.

Unfortunately, the series isn't for sale on GOG to Australia...meaning that I'll have to continue it on Steam (where they are sold to Australians) if I choose to continue the series. Oddly, Unreal Lust Theory, is sold to Australia...despite it seemingly being just the same game rebuilt in Unreal Engine.

Finished:
- The Shapeshifting Detective: An original and interesting FMV. I liked it but finding the real killer was not very easy.
- Ryse: Son of Rome: Very repetitive and I did not like the story.

Full list here
Finally Binding of Isaac: Rebirth's The Beast, getting the "Final Ending" for the first time with one of the game's many characters. Only Ending I'm still missing is the Ultra Greed one which requires a lot of grinding of the Greed Mode. 130h of my total 330h playtime have been put into the game just in the past month after I bought the DLCs on Steam sale. Which is not at all healthy. Time to uninstall. But for how long?
July 21, 17:45 – After short vacation, I've decided to play another game from Hero of the Kingdom series. Hero of the Kingdom: The Lost Tales 2 from GOG. This time, the hero was a princess. When compared to previous games, I put my enjoyment of it in between part III and Lost Tales 1. From start it was on the level of first Lost Tales, but soon, it slowly started to show its flaws. The quests seemed to me to have a little bit less of variety, and also I find the writing to be the weakest in the series so far. On the other hand, there was absolutely no grind, and I had to start shop runs for money only in the last hour of the game, after encountering the first undead. Up until then, the money and items, which I've found during the course of the game, were enough for moving forward through the story without any worry. So after 6 hours, I've unlocked all achievements and defeated another villain.

All of my finished games can be found HERE.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X (XSX)

The Xbox 360 version played on XSX. The X version is the HD widescreen port of the PS2 original. It is the best version of the game. This was originally meant to be Resi 3, but for reasons mostly concerning Sony being dicks with their exclusivity deals, it became a spinoff instead. It follows the formula of the first 2 main games- SFA ammo, tiny inventory and enemies that don't want to stay down and protagonists with lower grade school intelligence that moonlight as elite special forces ops. Honestly this one took the formula a step too far me...the amount of item box back tracking needed to get around the puzzles got seriously tedious.

It has been announced that the modern remake is in the works, if it's as good as CAPCOM's recent efforts then it should be good.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: Premium Edition (GOG)
Great stuff! Took longer than I expected (120h?)
Mixtape, Jul 23 (Xbox Game Pass)-Its not a bad narrative experience about a couple of high school students having one last night together before they all go their separate ways. I got moderately invested in the main characters but the runtime is about 3 hours so I didn't have too much opportunity to connect or relate. The soundtrack was good and fit the game/scenes but wasn't very memorable. And the town is just one giant hill.

Brave: The Video Game (XSX)

When looking through my 360 digital games that work on XSX, I noticed how many Disney Pixar movie games I had...they were all free monthly games from the old Games With Gold days- 360 games were treated as purchases and stay with the account even after you don't subscribe. So I randomly decided to give one a try and Brave was first because it starts with B, otherwise I'd be playing Cars 2.

Anyway, Brave was not what I was expecting in a good way. I've never seen the movie or any Disney movie from the past 30 years, but licensed movie tie ins have a bad reputation. Well Brave is actually a well made game- obviously intended for kids that enjoyed the movie, but it's game play stands alone well if you feel like a lightweight God of War style game. It's a mix of beat-em-up, twin stick shooting and platforming. It's over in about 6-7 hours, long before you tire of it. It has great production values and voice acting. I think it successfully achieves what a movie tie-in aims for quite well.

Unfortunately the game is pretty much doomed to history now, as it is no longer purchasable on Steam, Playstation, Wii or DS. The only version you can buy is the 360 one which is still for sale and playable on current Xbox's since it's a back compatible game.

Wanderlust: Transsiberian (GOG)

Short interactive travel fiction. It was okay I suppose, but I was hoping for something more about the actual travel and journeying. But what I got was more of a story about some guys personal problems...which wasn't what I thought I was signing up for. It was a free giveaway on GOG some time back. It's less than 2 hours long.

Grim Dawn original game without any DLC so far… Game runs well on Linux, it is Diablo 2 clone. I love original Diablo more than second part as its biggest strength for me was in simplicity, it is nice game when weather is bad and I cannot do what I had in plan. Diablo 2 is good, it makes game more complex. Grim Dawn continue this evolution and offers what is like third level of Diablo (never played newest Diablo than 2 and if it would not appear on GoG…). Graphics is full of details and really nice to watch. I was not looking for a story, so I just quickly clicked to get farther. This way I also choose side without even noticing, that it was choosing time. ;) At the end, I would probably made same choice so it does not matter. I was shocked, that after a few quests I did not got enough reputation to continue with this fraction quests… This is my main point, since the beginning I carefully checked every corner, killed all enemies and picked all items. It was a huge mistake. Since I opened bridge on the west from initial town, I felt so overpowered, so if I did not need something for main quest, I just run by the road to the end and it was more interesting for me. It seems, to me, that auto-leveling spoiled this game. Either way, it is good and recommendable, but not fantastic. Played as Shaman and beat final boss on level 44. Now, I’ll try Crucible DLC.

The Operator, Jul 26 (Epic Games)-Its like Her Story but with a more structured narrative. You interact with a computer doing investigative things like analyzing video and solving puzzles. The bomb sequence was tense and fun. The plot was good if cliche but the dialogue and voice acting were pretty wooden. At 3-4 hours I think its the perfect length for what it is. If it was much longer I think the novelty of the puzzle mechanics would wear off. But it is fun throughout that 3-4 hour runtime.

Lara Croft GO and soon Hitman GO (today just started the last level) but then battery ran out - curse of the deck :D.
Suprisingsly relaxing simple games. Am enjoying them very much!

I finished Hellpoint, its expansion Blue Sun and its standalone sequel chapter The Thespian Feast. Thus, the game became the first souls-like I finish. Ever. The main goal of the main game is to gather Data about an event that happened in the past, and then, when you reach at least 100% (the total of gathered Data can reach over 250%), depending on what you decide to do with it (as well as some other requirements), there are different endings.

The Blue Sun, after you install it, gets integrated into the main game and becomes accessible after you’ve gathered 50% of Data. However, you have to play and finish it before you finish the main game, otherwise (if you finish the main game first) the game ends (and you’re locked out of the expansion) and the NG+ automatically begins.

The Thespian Feast is independent of the main game. It takes place in one of the main game’s areas. However, it features a new protagonist and takes place a few years later.

As for the difficulty, yes for me it was. Apart from the fighting, there are also jumping (platform) sequences.

All in all, I had a VERY good time, except from the fighting with the two last bosses (main game’s and expansion’s)…

CMOT70: Fallout New Vegas (GOG)
I have no intention of derailing this thread, and I see you have finished games since this one, but i wanted to comment some additional points based on your post.

CMOT70: New Vegas feels too civilized for my liking- all of that faction stuff that everyone likes is exactly what I don't like. Fallout 3 feels more like being in a post apocalyptic wild wasteland just doing your thing.
That's honestly a very interesting observation I haven't seen made before (and I am a NV > 3 guy). I can't strongly counter your point either, and I thought it was worth highlighting it for its salience. I will offer that, for some (like me, though now I'm re-evaluating my stance somewhat), the proliferation of the factions and them being at different respective "power levels' is what can add to a chaotic feeling of New Vegas. Not sure there is a right or wrong answer here; just a matter of one's own perspective while experiencing the game.

A playing technique that has colored my experience and added to desolation/unpredictability: I don't fast-travel. Like, at all. Even when [small, veiled spoilers?] I've taken on extremely heavy items courtesy of the Dead Money DLC that left my character (beyond) weighted down. I still walked, step by agonizingly slow step, back to a safehouse to store them. I don't know that I would recommend this playstyle to everyone, to be honest. But for me, it enhances the immersion (and it feels, to me, there ends up being more "dead time" in the wasteland this way, than when I do so in 3).

As for the level cap issue (not quoted, but part of your post), I imagine mods can theoretically address that to some degree.

rjbuffchix:
For years I was (am) of the same belief as CMOT70's, no matter if there were others' opinions against me. Fallout 3, with its grey colors and the devastation shown all around, really depicting a "fallout" (the aftermath of a nuclear catastrophe), is a better Fallout game than New Vegas (with its orange, happy colors!). Yes, NV has better quests and more options for the player to choose from, but that makes it just a better "game" than F3, while F3 is a better "Fallout game" than NV. That's the truth.
