00063: So hopefully Remedy Entertainment will remedy the situation and provide the pre-order content as a standalone DLC.
Yeah, in fact why they don't or rarely do that? People with OCD would be happy, those who don't care still wouldn't care, and company would do some extra bucks.

Damn, I guess I never had a "gaming experience" in almost 30 years of playing.

It's almost funny because it's so ridiculous :D

Breja: Neither are you. Those virtual bonuses are no more "collectibles" than saved JPGs of paintings are an art collection.
That's like saying video games are not real either, you should go and buy a real Barbie doll.

And for what it's worth, I have plenty of physical CEs too. Some were console-only, which I bought despite not owning said console.

avatar
Breja: For what, the third time - we could make the same argument for bringing Hitman back here. A "GOG friendly" publisher was willing to sell the game here, and we rejected it for some lost cause! Oh, woe is us and our "content".
Bad example. Half the game used DRM. Completely different from an offline pre-order DLC.

And for what it's worth, as a collector, I still have Hitman 2016. I will always let others shoot themselves in the content. I will not do so myself.

Ex7BD: I am. Am not just using that as excuse for obssesive compulsions and behaviours that are ruining communities with tantrums.
<...>
Some of the community wont say this, but i have no problem in saying because some of your spamming and stalking pub/devs yields results and it benefits them (as they dont have to anything): offline you are not taken as serious person.
Uh huh... You can pretend to be this "very serious" corporate apologist, but the moment a game is too expensive for you, you start your own tantrum. We've seen enough of that on Discord before you quit it. As it so happens I care more about content than price.

avatar
Ex7BD: The only reason why GOG tolerates this behaviour is because as a business you are atm, good business, like taking a candy from a kid: you literally buy pretty much anything and everything GOG has on store
If you truly believed that and were as pragmatic as you think you are, you would not be wasting time here, defending a company. You'd buy the game and go play it. Buying games helps GOG far more than textual defence on the forum.

Ex7BD: P.S. Hoarding its not collecting.
P.S. Apathy is not a virtue.

Severity of an example has no bearing on the application of a principle. The same logic applies regardless.

I have to say, "shooting yourself in the content" is an absolutely hilarious phrase. You really are hopelessly obsessed.

Good for you, I guess? I do not put some glorified value on physical, like others. Discs break, scratch and rot. For art books especially, I will always prefer a DRM-FREE PDF to a paper book that can tear, burn, fade, crumple. It can also not be easily turned into a wallpaper. You cannot scan it properly without essentiality destroying the bindings. Physical is overrated and digital gets a bad rep due to DRM, which is (usually) not a concern in this place. I can make a dozen redundant digital backup copies and scatter the physical media all over in line with 3-2-1. Digital is also always in "mint" condition.

Then by that measure IOI was never a GOG-friendly publisher. If they were, they would have made the challenges available offline (rather than removing them from the game entirely, which would be the equivalent of missing pre-order content).

It's a play on "Shooting yourself in the foot". Activism/boycotts inherent involve sacrifice. I will not sacrifice my content. Others are welcome to, if they want.

LiefLayer: There is a big difference between missing extras from the gog version (that's not a problem, we can just pay less) and drm on cosmetics like with cyberpunk 2077.
The first one is ok... A gog version that's missing some content will just be there for the people that want it at the price that people are willing to pay (or people will just wait for a discount).
The second one is not ok, drm should not be on gog, cosmetics should not be locked under gog galaxy.
But we aren't paying less. We are paying the full price for less content than the people who pre-ordered on other platforms.

And is it that different? If you refuse to jump through the FOMO hoops you are deprived of the FOMO in both cases.

Also you need to remember that The rewards are not all free and indefinite. Some were Twitch drops. Some were Prime Rewards. And no, Twitch Drops and Prime Rewards are not the same. They have entire separate categories. Those have all poofed now if you did not collect them in time. So they are as much FOMO as a Pre-Order bonus, but a pre-order bonus is a traditional offline DLC that is delisted from sale.

So in fact, an argument could be made that missing the pre-order bonus is far worse than Cyberpunk's rewards, because Cyberpunk's rewards would still require you to authenticate online at least once, whereas a GOG pre-order DLC would have come with an offline installer, like they always do.

That's not what I said... I said to buy it when the price make sense for you for the content that you get here.

I don't care about those arguments... I buy here on gog because I think drm-free is top priority.
So a missing content is always better then a drm content.
So online gated Cyberpunk's rewards are worse then anything missing from Control Resonant.
When I buy Control Resonant I pay the amount I want to pay (I'll just wait for a sale where the price is what I want to pay) and get everything that's promised in the game page.
If I would buy Cyberpunk part of the content would be behind drm.

Then ignore the rewards and arrive at the same "missing content, but what remains is DRM-FREE" territory. "Missing content is better than DRM", as you say.

"99.9%" of Cyberpunk is DRM-FREE. The missing 0.01% is a conditional FOMO. A condition is that you authenticate online. If you refuse the condition, you do not get it.

In the same measure, the pre-order FOMO is conditional on a pre-order. If you do not pre-order you do not get it. You can still get the "99.9%" of it.

Once again, in both cases we miss out on the full game.

Hever, if we were allowed to pre-order, we would have gotten the pre-order bonus with an offline installer. Cyberpunk makes us authenticate over and over on every new PC, PLUS half of that stuff is no longer obtainable either.

Therefore pre-order is bonuses with offline installers are far less problematic that CDPR's "Rewards". And that is why it is so infuriating whenever we are deprived of the chance to pre-order.

No, it's a matter of principle. No game on gog should contain any amount of drm. I don't care if they remove the extra content from Cyberpunk, they need to remove the drm.

You are talking about fomo and other stupid stuff that does not matter at all. This is gog, good old games, for the most part what I buy here is already 2-3 years old minimum. What I care about is that it is 100% drm-free.

Yes, thank you, I did pick up on that. It's not my lack of understanding of this fact that makes it hilarious. It's the obsessive value you place on "content".

The fundamental difference is that GOG never promised anyone that we will always get pre-order bonuses for games released here after the fact, never made that the core promise and main selling point of the store. There's a big difference between breaking your fundamental long standing principle and indicating it is henceforth alterable on a whim, and not delivering something no one was ever promised and in fact there is no rational reason to even expect.

Okay... Okay then, even outside of the missing pre-order content, Control Resonant features Twitch Drops, Nvidia App Rewards, OEM (Razer) Rewards, and aaaaal kinds of DRMd NONSENSE that you stand principally against.

They need to be authenticated online via the "Enter Redeem Code" menu in the options. This game is exactly the same as Cyberpunk. Gotta trend the game on Twitch with those bribed views, ya know?

Have I redpilled you yet? All modern games are full of FOMO and pseudo-DRM, especially the AAA ones. Most of the time, GOG users are just happily ignorant of all the DRMd FOMO that these games feature. Even everyone's beloved good boi Larian has Larian account & launcher-bound rewards LOL. But I bet 99% of people were happily not aware of that.

Are they on gog? or just on the steam version?
That's what I'm interested... if they are not on gog I don't care.
That's also why I always check
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/drm_on_gog_list_of_singleplayer_games_with_drm/page1
before buying anything.

Sargon aka self-entitled Mr. FOMO, of all the comments above (not just mine) if those are your only takeways coupled with your last comment, means I won't engage further with you as clearly you lost the plot and am not qualified to do so - and tbh i dont really want to have that role/responsability as a random internet stranger since already have my plate full.

Listen, i dont expect you to "follow random strangers advice" so not suprised you still maintain the constant adversarial combative posture, do keep in mind am not the only one making these observations, take at least that as food for thought (i.e. your posture towards gaming it not a healthy/recommended one, just re-read your posts in the future and perhaps you can see why).

Do hope you find a much needed balance with reality and that someday you turn your unhealthy obsession into a healthy passion about all things gaming that makes any gaming community a better/more interesting place for everyone.

All the best.

SargonAelther: Others here can tell us to go to Steam, but I would imagine it would not help GOG much if we actually did.
Without "cracking" it people are lost "for having a complete game", no matter what they pay for. It is a simple truth people may have to accept. If not, as i said... then the game simply will be pricey and not even complete.

FOMO acceptance and FOMO-politics: Gamers was asking for being exploited and it works. As long as it works it will be done.

As i said, in some cases keysellers are able to offer a complete game, at a discount... even after launch: Obviously not from GOG (not even possible as GOG never had the Preorder at all in most cases).

In my case, FOMO does not mean that i pay more... even lesser; if so only by using a keyseller. The only way making me pay full price for FOMO-loaded games goes "over GOG". The publishers can be glad that i am a minority else they will have to deliver their full stuff over GOG just as they do it with Steam.

In the end, great game that now can not really "boost" the GOG anniversary due to "second class treatment".

At least 97 USD (80 CHF) has been saved up, which now has been used on a full tank of gasoline instead. I will only accept the full deal for a full price or vice versa, else it will benefit a "full tank"... as long as it is FULL, thanks for being able to read it and noticing it. If i have to decide between a full fank and "not a full game"... then i have to be rational here, as i am not insane.

Perhaps it even should be illegal selling "game items"; as it does exploit vulnerable people (some behavior comparable with the effect of drugs) which is a well known issue leading to many troubles in society and family. They should only be allowed to sell a full game and special versions of it such as "Deluxe". Good luck for the politics to change it, as the companies seems to have near unlimited freedom if it comes to "how they want to make money and its methods".

Of course, technically... they was not selling "In game items" here; instead a special version that was never available on GOG.

Lets hope a better anniversary deal is on its way without second class treatment.

Thank you for the interesting game. I will probably buy it when the price is right for me. It's good to see new, good games on GoG. However, I would also be happy to see some slightly older good games.

GoG has always been a game shop with only a very limited selection of DRM-free games. So GoG will always miss a lot of stuff. Thinking that you can always get everything you want, the way you want, is just delusional.

As for falling for FOMO, cosmetics, skins, and microtransactions in general, that's really people's own personal problem, and in my opinion, GoG doesn't need to worry about people's personal problems. Companies are just exploiting people's weaknesses; this predatory content exists only because of those weaknesses. Mostly because the law doesn't stop companies from using these tactics to lure some people into these traps.
